BAROQUE REMIX•MODERN DICKINSON • BEATSONG

Sonja created Baroque Remix to give presenters, audiences and musicians a fun, joyful, fresh and relatable experience with Baroque music, one that easily pulls in new and young audiences. Click on the photo to see our performance and interview on Boston Public Radio.

The spaces and instrumentation are flexible, and every show is rewritten to provide local humor and references. The shows are family friendly as they stand, but we do have libretti written specifically for very young kids 4 and under. English and Spanish supertitles are available, and the show is 70 minutes long.

For performance videos, please email sonja.tengblad@gmail.com and I can share the links (due to union regulations, I can’t share footage of the shows publicly).

Full re-written show menu is:

  • Bach’s Peasant Cantata (kids show: Babysitter Cantata)

  • Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona

  • Bach’s Coffee Cantata (kids show: Juice Cantata)

MODERN DICKINSON

Through music written after 2000, these GRAMMY award-winning artists explore the poetry of Emily Dickinson with a modern lens. This 85-minute, non-stop program shatters the 4th wall and invites you right into Emily's living room, into a conversation through her enlightened, paradoxical, and fanatically truth-seeking words.

BEAT SONG

Sonja Tengblad + Jonathan Hess

Beat Song is dedicated to commissioning and performing works that explore the first instruments of humankind: percussion and voice. In addition to recreating early works by Downland and Purcell and performing today's most established contemporary composers, world premieres include works by Matthew Peterson (ASCAP Nissim Prize winner, 2013), Adam Jacob Simon, and Emmy award-winning composer Kareem Roustom.
